Danny's birthday took place during our last week in NYC.
We decided to go on a really special date. This one was special because we went on THE EXACT SAME DATE during our first weekend together.
Here's what we did:
1. WE TRIED FOR BROADWAY LOTTERY TICKETS. (Our first weekend together we tried for Wicked and didn't get them. This time we tried for The Book of Mormon and didn't get them either. wah wah.)
2. SO WE WENT FOR AN AMAZING DINNER AT THE SPOTTED PIG (in Greenwich).
We remembered that our first meal there was DEEEELICIOUS!!
And our second meal there was just as good as we remembered.
In between us shaking our heads and eating our food, we said stuff like:
"It's hard to believe that anything could be this good at all."
"Mine's ridiculous. How's your's? Ridiculous?"
"YES."
"That was phenomenal. Truly."
"Why has it taken us 4 years to come back here???"
"I think this is one of the most amazing things I've eaten in my life!"
You MUST get the Sheep's Milk Ricotta Gnudi with Brown Butter & Crispy Sage and the Rosemary & Garlic Shoestring Fries. And then pretty much everything else on the menu is bound to be off the charts. Our waitress said you literally can't go wrong with anything on the entire menu. I don't doubt it one bit because even something as simple as Roasted Carrots with Thyme was unbelievable.
While we ate our dinner, we held hands and reminisced about that first night we visited. I shed TEARS I was just feeling so grateful for this dear husband of mine. Sometimes when I'm in the gaze of my husband, it just seems like nothing around us exists.
We talked about our love story (you can read some of those amazing emails here) - and what a miracle it was that we met at all after our divorces and that we have been able to share such extraordinary experiences together. It was one of the most magical and romantic nights we've had.
Is there a date you would like to recreate? Do tell! It's always so fun to hear from you. (Danny just spent the last few minutes telling me all the dates he wishes we could recreate. Ohhhh...if only.)
